Rice is crowned as a staple food for more than half of the world’s population, there are more than 40% of people in India having rice as their staple food.

Ever heard of Tiranga or Tricolored rice? Not as complex as it sounds; it’s easy to cook and delicious for the taste buds.

Ingredients

FOR ORANGE RICE

1 Cup cooked Basmati rice
1 Teaspoon Cumin seeds
2 Tablespoons Ghee
1 Teaspoon Ginger paste
1 Teaspoon Garlic Paste
Onions 1/2 Cup
1 Teaspoon Red chilli Powder
1 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
Tomato puree 1/2 Cup
Salt to taste

FOR WHITE RICE

1 Cup cooked Basmati rice
1 Tablespoon Udad Daal
2 Tablespoons Ghee
1 Teaspoon Cumin seeds
1 Teaspoon Ginger paste
Salt to taste
1 Teaspoon Garlic Paste
1 Teaspoon Green chilies
1/2 Cup Yogurt

FOR GREEN RICE

1 Cup cooked Basmati rice
1 Teaspoon Cumin seeds
2 Tablespoons Ghee
1 Teaspoon Ginger paste
1/2 Cup Spinach puree
1 Teaspoon Garlic Paste
1 Teaspoon Green chili paste
Salt to taste

OPTIONAL
2 Tablespoons Azafran’s Chili Infused Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Preparation

FOR ORANGE RICE

Heat the pan, add ghee, then add cumin seeds and onions, saute it till reddish brown. Then add green chilies and ginger garlic paste. Mix the tomato puree with it and let it cook. Sprinkle the red chili powder, turmeric power & salt, mix it well and cook until the gravy is blended completely. Add the rice in the end and mix well. Orange rice is ready.

FOR WHITE RICE

Heat the pan, add ghee, then add udad daal, cumeen seeds, ginger garlic paste, green chilies and let it cook for a minute. Then add yogurt to the mixture and rice thereafter. Add salt to taste and White rice is ready.

FOR GREEN RICE

Heat the pan, add ghee, then add cumin seeds, green chilies and ginger garlic paste. Then after add spinach puree to it and let it cook well. Add salt to taste and the Green rice is ready!

After all the three rice are placed together, drizzle Azafran’s Chili Infused Extra Virgin Olive Oil on it for an added flavor and spiciness.
