Art therapy is a child’s way to finding an expression for their emotions. Children as young as 3 years may not have verbal vocabulary to articulate in words how they feel , but using crayons on paper can be a very helpful outlet for a child to express emotions such as fear, shame , feeling lost , feeling overwhelmed or nervous. It is a gift to a child when instead of their feelings being dismissed or negated , parents give them the simple yet effective gift of crayons and paper when a child is upset , scared or even when they are excited. Crayons and paper and expression through it is a language that children use versus words.
